Qatar Olympic Committee Unveils Impressive Lineup of Sports Events for 2025

The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) has just unveiled an exciting sports events calendar for 2025, marking a monumental year for sports in the country. With 84 dynamic events scheduled, including 15 prestigious world championships, Qatar is set to host some of the biggest sports events globally. From international competitions to regional tournaments, the country is preparing to offer an extraordinary sporting experience for athletes and fans alike.

Highlights of the 2025 Sports Calendar

Among the standout events are the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships, taking place from May 17 to 27, 2025. This globally recognized championship will be hosted across three iconic venues: Lusail Multipurpose Arena, Qatar University Arena, and Qatar Sports Arena. With top-tier players competing, the event is expected to draw spectators from all over the world.

Additionally, Qatar will host the FIFA U-17 World Cup from November 5 to 27, 2025, at the same FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums, showcasing the next generation of football stars. This tournament will attract global attention, reinforcing Qatar’s reputation as a premier host for major international sports events.

The Year Kicks Off with Major Beach Volleyball and Tennis Events

The 2025 sports calendar kicks off with the King of the Court beach volleyball tournament finals, set to take place in early January. Organized by the Qatar Volleyball Association, this high-octane competition will bring together the world’s best beach volleyball players in an intense battle for the championship. Following this, the Beach Pro Tour Elite16 in February will provide yet another exciting spectacle.

February also sees a strong presence in tennis with events such as the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, organized by the Qatar Golf Association, alongside the prestigious Qatar ExxonMobil Open for Men and Qatar TotalEnergies Open for Women. These tournaments, hosted by the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, are part of the ATP and WTA tours and feature some of the best tennis talent globally.

Other notable February events include the H.H. The Amir’s Shooting Cup and the Lusail Shotgun Championship, both managed by the Qatar Shooting & Archery Association.

World-Class Gymnastics, Basketball, and Squash

April promises excitement with the FIG Artistic Gymnastics Apparatus World Cup, showcasing both men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics. Gymnastics fans can expect top-tier performances as athletes compete for Olympic and World Championship qualification points.

In June, the FIBA 3×3 U23 Youth League, hosted by the Qatar Basketball Federation, will bring fierce competition among young basketball players, while in September, the Q-Terminals Qatar Classic squash tournament will feature the world’s best squash players in action from September 28 to October 4, 2025.

International Championships and High-Profile Competitions

Qatar’s sports calendar boasts a remarkable 36 international championships, featuring events like the Al Shaqab International League, the WTT Star Contender, and the Qatar Fencing Grand Prix. Other major events include the Qatar International Optimist Sailing Championship, the H.H. The Amir’s Sword Equestrian Festival, and the Doha Diamond League in athletics.

In martial arts, Qatar will host the 5th Qatar Open Taekwondo Championship and the 10th Qatar Weightlifting Cup, solidifying the country’s status as a global sports hub.

Regional and Gulf-Level Events

Qatar will also play a pivotal role in regional sports competitions, hosting 14 Asian-level events. These include the Asian Beach Volleyball Championship, the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifiers, and the Asian Padel Championship. Additionally, the West Asia One-Day Athletics Championship and the West Asia Badminton Championship will highlight Qatar’s growing influence in regional sports.

As a proud member of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Qatar will organize six Gulf-level championships, including the GCC Men’s Tennis Championship, the GCC Padel Team Championship (for various age groups and genders), and the GCC Youth and Junior Athletics Championship.

Arab and Local Events

On the Arab level, the FIFA Arab Cup is set to take place from December 1 to 18, 2025, at the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums. This tournament promises thrilling football action, showcasing the best of Arab football nations.

Qatar will also celebrate numerous local events, including the National Sport Day, the QOC Half-Marathon, and the finals of the Qatar Volleyball Cup, Qatar Football Cup, and H.H. the Amir Basketball Cup. Additionally, the closing ceremony of the Olympic Schools Program, the Amir Football Cup final, and the World Olympic Day will take place, fostering sports culture and community engagement.
