On April 9, 2025, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar announced updated regulations for towing caravans and trailers. These changes are part of the country’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Towing Timings

The Ministry has set specific days and times when towing caravans and trailers is permitted:

  • Sunday to Wednesday: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Thursday to Saturday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Towing is not allowed during adverse weather conditions, due to safety concerns.

Road Use Instructions

Drivers towing caravans or trailers must follow these road usage rules:

  • Use Orbital Highways and their exits whenever possible.
  • Stay in the right lane at all times.
  • Do not overtake other vehicles while towing.

These measures are intended to reduce risks on the road and improve traffic safety.

Safety Requirements for Caravans

To ensure that all towed caravans meet safety standards, the Ministry has outlined the following requirements:

  • The rear lights on the towing vehicle must be working properly.
  • Brakes and tyres must be in good condition.
  • Reflectors must be installed: red at the rear, yellow on the sides.
  • A valid fire extinguisher must be available in the caravan.

All vehicle owners are advised to check their equipment regularly and follow the regulations strictly to avoid penalties and ensure public safety.
